La catedral está sobre la antigua iglesia destruida durante la guerra de los Comuneros hace 400 años. La catedral tardó más de 200 años en terminarse. Es de estilo artístico gótico. Las catedrales góticas son altas y tienen grandes ventanales, llamados vidrieras. El claustro es más antiguo y lo trasladaron durante las obras hasta el lugar actual.
