Of Poor Clare nuns, the convent was founded in 1552, highlighting the access through a Renaissance façade of ashlar masonry, adorned with columns and coats of arms.

The construction of the church, except for the north doorway of Berroqueña ashlar masonry, is very humble, made of brick and rammed earth. The Renaissance façade of the north façade is composed of fluted Corinthian pilasters, semicircular arch and triangular pediment with flambeaux and medallions.

The floor plan has a single nave, covered with a four-spoke vault of veined "caleño" granite. The main piece was the cenotaph of its founder, María Dávila, made in alabaster by Vasco de la Zarza. After the abandonment of the convent in 1971, it was moved to the new convent.

It was declared a National Monument in 1991.
