The cathedral of Avila is an example of a church that looks like a castle. The city wall and the cathedral are joined together. This cathedral is one of the first Gothic churches in Spain. The Gothic artistic style is typical of the Middle Ages. They are tall buildings with large windows, called stained glass windows. The oldest part of the cathedral is more than 800 years old.
